fiba celebrates comic genius 2006

HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY

LENNYBRUCE

WHERE EVER YOU MAY BE

by fiba publisher G P Solomos

The Brooklyn-born comedian Lenny Bruce died at the age of 42 in 1967. They 'say' that it was as a result of a self-inflicted overdose of drugs. However no independent public investigation was allowed. Sound familiar? Both Zionists and Catholics - let alone the 'laws' for obscenity - were hounding him to the very end. He was an establishment 'outlaw'' public figure - just like John Lennon. And they were both silenced!!

Although his father was born in the United Kingdom he was expelled from London after only one performance of his 'act' in the mid-'60s. The Brits, like the Yanks, couldn't stomach what he had to say - IN our OUT of context. He first started 'speaking' in the late 1950s in small clubs in NYC and San Francisco. He was arrested for 'obscenity' in California but the complaint
was thrown out of court. However in New York City the authorities there couldn't wait to have him locked up. This harassment began weighing heavily on his mind.

His show-business wife left him after only five years. But their daughter was left in his care. With no means of earning a living 'performing' he swiftly began to fall apart mentally. They 'say' so-called 'drugs' got him in the end. Never honored or appreciated in his own country nor abroad Lenny Bruce is almost a mystical figure in this day and age. But the few times his
spontaneous 'hsyterical monologues' were recorded is proof of his genius and gift of gab that will never be erased. If you can find any of the DVDs or Audio tapes devoted to Lenny Bruce's work grab them! You won't regret it!
