| Theatre Company of China is proud to partner with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute to present Passages of Martin Luther King, as part of the Martin Luther King Week in China. Artists from our two countries will work together to dramatically portray Dr. King, the civil rights leader whose influence extended worldwide. We will learn how to convey spirit and unique characteristics to Chinese audiences. Through this exercise, we also hope to demonstrate to the world the determination and persevearance of Chinese artists. |

| In June 2007, the King Institute and The National Theatre Company of China staged the international premiere of the play Passages of Martin Luther King in Beijing, China. The play wwa the highlight of Beijing's first annual Martin Luther King Week, hosted by the King Institute, which will feature lectures, discussions and workshops about Dr. King at universities and libraries across Beijing. |

Passages
of Martin Luther KingÊ recreatesÊthe journey of the young King to the
mature King, from youthful clergyman to passionate advocate for world
peace. The play formed the basis for the award-winning Autobiography
of Martin Luther King, Jr. (Time Warner, 1998). |
| Since June 2005, the King Institute has organized discussions and lectures about KingÕs legacy at universities, schools and libraries across Beijing. |
| Beijing -- Chinese and American high school performed excerpts from Passages of Martin Luther King, to packed auditorium of five hundred Chinese high school students at the Second Middle School (attached to Beijing Normal University). The student actors, all juniors in high school, acted out key scenes from the Civil Rights Movement, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the sit campaigns, the Children's Crusade in Birmingham, and Vietnam War protests. The presentation was the culmination of an academic year collaboration between the Second Middle School and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University. |
